What is HammerHand?
HammerHand is a New Zealand offline-first app for building inspectors and trades. It turns on-site voice notes and photos into defensible inspection reports — Healthy Homes assessments and pre-purchase NZS 4306 building reports — and runs the build day for builders and trades: staff hours, materials, a photographed build record, the compliance certificates they must issue, and the client invoice.
Does HammerHand work offline?
Yes. Capture is offline-first: it saves to your device the instant you record, so it works in a subfloor or on a remote site with no signal, then syncs automatically when you’re back in range. Offline isn’t a fallback — it’s the primary condition the app is designed for.
What inspection reports does HammerHand do?
Healthy Homes assessments (all five standards, numeric pass/fail, with built-in heating-capacity and insulation R-value helpers) and pre-purchase building reports to NZS 4306. Both run on one versioned template engine, with new-build and pre-sale templates following.
Is HammerHand only for inspectors, or for builders and trades too?
Both. Inspectors get the reporting loop; builders and trades — electricians, plumbers and gasfitters, painters and scaffolders — get build-day tools: staff hours, materials, travel, a photographed job record, the compliance certificates each trade must issue, and invoicing.
Does the AI write my reports for me?
The AI drafts; you decide. You talk on site and HammerHand drafts a structured finding with a suggested severity, clearly marked as a proposal. Nothing becomes an official finding until you review and confirm it — that human sign-off is exactly what keeps the report defensible.
Where is my data stored?
In New Zealand. HammerHand runs on AWS in the Auckland region for New Zealand data residency.
Can HammerHand issue compliance certificates?
Yes. Each trade’s certificate pack is built in — electrical CoC/ESC, gas and plumbing certificates and Records of Work, scaffold handover, painter completion record — self-filling from what you’ve already entered, signed and reference-numbered.
Does HammerHand do the Healthy Homes calculations?
Yes. It includes deterministic helpers for heating capacity and insulation R-value, and numeric pass/fail against the five Healthy Homes standards, so the compliance verdict is calculated, not guessed.
How is HammerHand different from trade job-management apps?
Trade job-management tools are strong at quoting, scheduling and invoicing. They don’t produce New Zealand inspection reports, Healthy Homes or NZS 4306 assessments, or the inspection evidence trail. HammerHand does both the inspection and compliance side and the job-running side, offline-first.
How much does HammerHand cost?
HammerHand is NZ$75 per user per month for the Tradie plan (build-day tools and trade compliance) or NZ$99 for Tradie+, which adds Healthy Homes and NZS 4306 inspections — or pay as you go at NZ$25 per report. Is HammerHand available on iPhone and Android?

Does HammerHand do meth or asbestos testing?
No. HammerHand doesn’t perform accredited specialist lab testing. Where specialist testing is needed, ‘further investigation by a specialist’ is a valid, honest outcome — the app never fabricates a conclusion.
